from shigol to metropol
betwixt the new,
astride the old
an old man digs,
an old man folds
the earth again
and starts to mold
the earth into
a field of gold
shimmering in
the summer sun;
glistening in
a clever pun.
brown rocks and twigs
demark the field
to oblong squares
that will soon yield
onions and herbs
cabbage and corn –
a meal prepared
before the storm.
